Garden State [Aug. 19th, 2004|10:53 am]

Before I start this post... I want to ask anyone who comments on it (if anyone does) to please please please not include any spoilers in here.  This film is terrific and I would hate to have the experience spoiled for anyone.

Now, as for my post... who here has seen this film as of yet?  I know it's been out for a bit but I only saw it this week and all I can say is WOW!  I've even gone as far as to actually read Zach Braff's blog on the official Garden State website.  This man is seriously one in a million.  If you haven't seen it, I can't reccommend it enough...  I think everyone in their 20s - 30s can relate to the messages he conveys in his film.  It's just such a sweet movie and surprisingly funny too... please go check it out!  As for me, I may just have to see it again this weekend.. heh

alias maya 5 help? [Aug. 11th, 2004|05:45 pm]
for all lovers of film.

so, i am trying to create a simple fire using alias wavefronts maya 5 unlimited. i am trying to create a simple fire emitter on a green screen background. it seems to work fine in all the preview and editing widows, like the front, top, perp views and what not, it does not show up as an ipr render. and no matter what i use for render globals i can not get the particles to render out, as in, they don't show up. i can however, get the lightnig to show up and work just fine. i was having the same problem as fire with just particales themselves as well. any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
i am running winxp on an athlon 2g proc

I am curious as to which of George Romero's DEAD trilogy was the best?
Dawn of the dead looks the most appealing to me.

I have a few things/points to discuss/bring up.
How can this be a community for film lovers if its interest list contains so few great directors, actors, writers, etc.?
How about:
Quentin Tarantino
Robert Rodriguez
Terry Gilliam
The Coen Brothers
Spike Lee
Spike Jonze
Charlie Kaufman
Charlie Chapman
John Tutorro
Paul Newman
Robert DeNiro
Harvey Keitel
Adrein Brody
Luc Besson
Gary Oldman
Marlon Brando

Clint Eastwood
Sergio Leone
Charles Bronson
Charlie Chapman
Meryl Streep
Anthony Hopkins
Akira Kurosawa
George Lucas
Stanley Kubrick
Alfred Hitchcock
Woody Allen
Jack Nicholson
Christopher Walken
John Malkovich

This may be a place for film fans, maybe just a different kind than I.
